Waterside Village, Talbot County
A thriving shrub/scrub wetland was created as mitigation for farmed wetlands that existed prior to the development of the Waterside Village shopping center. This wetland is fed by runoff from the buildings and parking areas of the shopping center, as well as groundwater. It has a meandering shape and is planted with a variety of herbaceous plants and shrubs to approximate nearby wetlands.
Environmental Concern designed the wetland, supplied & planted all the plants. In addition to the freshwater nontidal wetland created at this site, EC restored approximately 8 acres of tidally influenced wetland that had been degraded by Phragmites, an invasive plant.
This wetland is seen by hundreds of passing motorists at the intersection of the Easton Bypass (RT 322) and St Michaels Road (RT 33) or from the parking lot near the Target department store, or the outdoor dining area at the Chillis Restaurant. Google Map Directions
