Restoration > Project Tour > San Domingo Park

The Living Shoreline at San Domingo Creek Park was constructed in 2006 and funded by grants from NOAA & the Chesapeake Bay Trust. A thriving marsh now exists where a collapsing wooden bulkhead and grove of invasive bamboo once stood. A kayak launch offers visitors easy access to the water.

The St Michaels Nature Trail passes through the park over a covered bridge. It is a very popular open space used by runners, walkers, dog owners, kayakers, & local watermen. The Choptank River Tributary Team has adopted this park for its annual Wade-In.

The project was funded by a grant from NOAA with a match from Environmental Concern. Environmental Concern designed & built this marsh. The EC Nursery grew all the plant material. Elementary school students from St Michaels ES and their teachers & parents helped to plant the marsh.
