Shade: Will tolerate partial shade.
Habitat: Fresh tidal marsh or swamp, non-tidal marsh or swamp, woods and moist
uplands.
Hydrology: Facultative to Facultative wetland+. Will tolerate seasonal inundation.
Tidal zone: above MHW.
Range: Quebec to Manitoba, south to southern Florida, Oklahoma and Texas.
Comments: Tolerates drought, excellent specimen tree, beautiful fall color.
Wildlife value: seeds eaten by birds and small mammals.
