Rain Gardens

Clean the Bay, one garden at a time!
Tired of wet spots and puddles in your yard after it rains? Want to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff from your property? Come learn the benefits of rain gardens and using native plants to spruce up your yard and improve the health of the Bay! This year don’t landscape, bayscape!

Rain Barrels of Fun
April 24 10am-noon

Spring showers bring great flowers, but rainfall sends harmful stormwater runoff into the Bay. Help do your part by installing a rain barrel at your home! This rain barrel workshop will discuss how runoff from your property affects the bay, and will demonstrate simple techniques to help reduce runoff. Supplies will be available to create a basic rain barrel to take home.

If You Can't Beat 'Em...Eat 'Em
May 22 10 am-12 pm

From pest to pesto, Environmental Concern will teach you the how to correctly identify invasive plant species and turn them into tasty recipes. After learning the benefits of native plants, the class will consist of a look-and-cook session using invasives from around the area to create appetizers and desserts.

$15 for course and recipes

 


 

Native Plant Sale and Open House
June 12 9am- 4pm

See what the country's first wholesale wetland native plant nursery has to offer. Purchase plants for your rain gardens and native landscapes. Food, gifts, and crafts will be available throughout the day. Activities include raffles, facility tours, and more. (Plant sale will also be open Friday, June 11.)
